The Doug Watts Young Referee of the Year
Recognising young talent.
The Doug Watts Award is presented annually to a young referee whom throughout the season has shown exemplary commitment to refereeing.
The winner chosen by our Referees Committee will be someone under the age of 21, who:
- has a minimum of two seasons experience
- has shown consistent availability
- has an exemplary record
- takes on additional off-field activities to support their colleagues
- supports and attends OFA training events
- finishes in the top ten of the merit table of their preferred league
- is a maximum of a level 5 referee

How is a referee nominated for this award?
Anyone can nominate a referee for consideration but this must be done in writing and submitted to us, via email by the 1st March each year.
Can I win it more than once?
Yes, but not in consecutive seasons.
Apart from the above criteria are any other factors taken into consideration when choosing the winner?
The criteria listed above is not exhaustive and so we will consider any appropriate additional information that may compliment the nomination.
When is the award presented?
The award is presented to the winner at the annual Oxfordshire FA Awards Evening, which usually takes place in June each year.
