Introducing Alix Todd

We’d like to introduce you to our new Football Development Officer.

Oxfordshire FA would like to introduce our grassroots football community to the latest member of our team – Alix Todd – who joins us as our new Football Development Officer focusing on Player Pathways.

Alix joins us with a wealth of experience as both a coach and player; experience that will serve her well as she works with all across Oxfordshire in creating and enhancing opportunities for players of all genders, ages, and abilities.

In her role as Football Development Officer with a focus on Player Pathways, Alix will be working with our members and organisations/venues across the county to improve the experience for players, as well as ensuring that opportunities to play are available for all. From the youth game through to Walking Football, Alix will be dedicated to ensuring that people can play both competitive and recreational formats of the game.

Alix, who currently plays in Tier 5 of the Women’s Football Pyramid, will also be working to continue the growth of the women and girls’ game in Oxfordshire, with an emphasis on making sure that opportunities to play are as equal and widespread as possible. Whether that means supporting clubs to sustain their current pathway, or to grow/fill any gaps, or to network with schools and other providers, Alix will be looking at ways in which to ensure more females can access the game.

In addition, Alix will be supporting Oxfordshire’s incredible network of volunteers involved in football within our county, working together to make their experience as positive as possible and to ensure volunteers feel supported in their journey and development.

“I’m excited to get stuck in with supporting the individuals at the heart of Oxfordshire football,” said Alix.

“I’m keen to work with people both on and off the grass in helping them deliver the game we all love, as well as to support them so that they can continue to do the positive work they’re already delivering. I want our volunteers to feel valued, and ensure that everyone has the chance to experience the positive impact of football.”

Prior to joining Oxfordshire FA, Alix studied Sports Development & Coaching at university, before undertaking a Masters in Philosophy, studying the interplay between anger and identity in female football coaches.

During Alix’s studies, she worked as a BUCS Football Activator, BNU women’s football coach, and as a coach with Reading in the Community, and has a deep passion for the game.

“I can’t profess to be a fan of one club, because the coach in me is obsessed with analysing new tactics, so I will very much fall in love with systems of play. For example, I’ve never had an interest in Brighton, but ‘De Zerbi Ball’ was incredible to watch and learn from as a coach and a player. That said, I do have a soft spot for Arsenal, as I fell in love with football watching Thierry Henry and Kelly Smith.”

If you want to get in touch with Alix to discuss playing opportunities, projects you have going on to boost participation, or new sessions you plan to run, drop her an email via Support@OxfordshireFA.com
