Abuse Awareness in Sport Webinar

As part of Safeguarding Adults Week and White Ribbon Day, which is a campaign marking the start of 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence running to December 10, Active Oxfordshire and Stay Safe Global Charity Trust is hosting an Abuse Awareness in Sport workshop on Tuesday 26 November.
Running from 10am to 12noon, the webinar focuses on the topic of building positive cultures and trauma-informed coaching.
During the session, participants will touch upon:
- Understanding the benefits of positive sporting environments and informed coaching sessions on participants affected by trauma.
- Examining how a club creates and maintains positive culture around gender-based violence, and awareness of a coach’s role in how training sessions can unintentionally create barriers within affected groups, or empower and encourage disclosure.
- Providing simple ways that sessions can be run in a trauma informed way.
- Understanding the causes, effects and impact of domestic abuse and gender-based violence on victims and their families.
- Identifying barriers to participation and excellence in team members affected by domestic abuse or sexual violence.
