Sam Waters Sunday Cup - Round 1 Round-Up
Sunday 10 November saw the opening round of the Oxfordshire FA Sam Waters Sunday Cup take place, with three exciting ties taking place.
Here are the results from the weekend…
Henley Town Sunday 0 – 12 Littlemore
Stadhampton 4 – 4 Goring United Sunday 4 (Stadhampton won 4-2 on penalties)
Barton United 1 – 6 Bullingdon Youth U21
An incredible 27 goals were scored in the opening round of the competition, 12 of which were scored in the round’s biggest win; a 12-0 victory for Littlemore over Henley Town Sunday.
It’s perhaps unsurprising, therefore, that both the Player of the Round and the Sam Waters Sunday Cup’s top scorer to date is Littlemore’s Jae Sharkey, who netted five in his side’s emphatic victory.
However, it was an eight-goal thriller between Stadhampton and Goring United Sunday that proved to be the tie of the round. With both teams level after the final whistle and extra-time, the fixture went to a penalty shootout, which was well negotiated by Stadhampton who won the shootout 4-2.
The next round of the Sam Waters Sunday Cup is the quarter-final stage.
The quarter-final draw will be revealed exclusively on Oxfordshire FA’s social media feeds at 12noon on Wednesday 13 November.
