New Women's Walking Football Session to Launch

A brand-new session aims to increase opportunities available for female players in Oxfordshire.

Oxfordshire FA is delighted to announce the launch of a brand-new Walking Football session for female players across the county, which is the latest initiative introduced to support the growth of the women’s game in Oxfordshire.

Taking place on Sunday 18 November at The Oxford Academy School, this Walking Football session is designed for female players aged 35 and above – and will run between 4.30pm and 6.30pm.

This pilot session will enable Oxfordshire FA to see if there is a demand for Walking Football for female players within the county.

Delivered in co-operation with Level 1 female coach Carol Phillips, the session will give women aged 35 and over the opportunity to take part in football at a slightly slower pace. The session will cost £3 per-person.

On 18 November, the session will be an introductory one, delivering the basics of the game, the rules; progressing into allowing participants to play and get used to the format.

James Shiplee, Football Development Officer at Oxfordshire FA, said: “This is a brand-new opportunity for women in Oxfordshire to get involved in football – and in Carol, we have an enthusiastic and passionate coach to lead these Walking Football sessions.

“I’m excited to see where we can take Walking Football for women in Oxfordshire.”
