Oxford Phoenix

Our Future Plans

Following the launch of the pilot, we now have a springboard to build on that progress with key learnings in deliver a sustainable and impactful future programmes.

We will continue to run weekly sessions on a Sunday so that those we have engaged so far will continue to attend and encourage neighbours and friends to join.

We have strong strategic partnership links with other Oxfordshire organisations including Refugee Resource and Asylum Welcome which enables sustained engagement with our target audiences. By working with Refugee Resource, Asylum Welcome and Oxford United in the Community, the men’s programme was able to create a new football team playing competitive matches.

This is the aim for the women’s programme and we actively looking for new strategic partners to sponsor and help promote new projects which will be led by coaches with previous experience supporting young people facing trauma and specifically female coaches who can help enable Muslim women to take part and inspire and encourage them to football is for them too.

We are seeking support from GLL and other local leisure centre operators to continue providing affordable, high quality facilities especially during times when they have least activity.

We would also use additional funds to purchase appropriate footwear and football kit for people who cannot afford them participants that need it - and next month we will be opening boot banks in Abingdon, Banbury, Bicester, Carterton and Witney to enable families who cannot afford kit for their children and to freely swap football boots for a fresh pair whenever they grow out of their own.
